Episode One is the first novel of a continuous story tracking the hunt for a serial arsonist, or arsonists, in the fictitious California suburban community of Seaville, north of Los Angeles. The story begins with Dr. Roger Sterling's realization that his 2 children are trapped at home behind a fire line, while their nanny is lying motionless on the garage floor. With only one option, running up a steep 2 mile hill to rescue his children, he begins the run against smoke, wind, and fire. The story then moves to a flashback starting a week earlier, and details of all the events that led to the out-of-control wildfire that was now bearing down on his neighborhood. An important detail from the week before: Dr. Sterling shares with Chief Bradford, the local fire chief, that he believes the serial arsonist loose in their community can best be tracked through the dynamics of the mind as opposed to traditional forensic evidence. Come join a host of characters, 4 runaway teenage girls, a homeless psychotic man, Big Bad Bob a former professional wrestler and now manager of the local coffee shop, Julie the beautiful barista, and a nameless character who roams the Seaville Valley landscape at night with one thing in mind, starting fires!
