Bernie Lewis was born and raised in San Diego, California, where he first learned to love and appreciate the beauty of the ocean environment. He settled as an adult in Winchester, Virginia, his home for the last 45 years. Since the age of 20 he has been a frequent visitor to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He and his family bought a vacation home in Kinnakeet in 2020.Bernie graduated from Washington and Lee University, then earned a master's and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Virginia. He subsequently served the Winchester community as a clinical psychologist for 35 years before retirement. He is the author of the first collection of this series of short stories, Kinnakeet Stories, the photobook The Long Branch You've Never Seen, and Local Heroes: Winchester Virginia 2000-2010.The creative side of him has found expression in capturing photographic images and dreaming up interesting stories to tell since his teen years.You may contact him at Kinnakeetstories@gmail.com
