Tzanko Vasilev Tzankov est né à Sofia (1936). Il a publié plus de 340 manuscrits scientifiques (dont plus de 28 monographies et livres) dans le domaine de la tectonique régionale, de l'analyse structurale, de la géologie régionale, de la litostratigraphie de la partie orientale de la péninsule balkanique, du Tell Atlas (Afrique du Nord), de Cuba, etc.
