Katharine Pyle (1863-1938) was a prolific American author and illustrator, known for her contributions to children's literature. Born into a creatively gifted family in Wilmington, Delaware, Katharine was the younger sister of the famed illustrator and author Howard Pyle. She cultivated her skills under her brother's tutelage, and later at the Philadelphia School of Design for Women, now Moore College of Art & Design.
