Katharine Pyle (1863-1938) was a prolific American author and illustrator, known for her contributions to children's literature. Born into a creatively gifted family in Wilmington, Delaware, Katharine was the younger sister of the famed illustrator and author Howard Pyle. She cultivated her skills under her brother's tutelage, and later at the Philadelphia School of Design for Women, now Moore College of Art & Design. Katharine Pyle's literary oeuvre is substantial, showcasing a particular flair for folklore and fairy tales that both entertain and impart ethical lessons. Her 'Mother's Nursery Tales' is an exemplary work, reflecting her knack for retelling classic stories in an engaging manner tailored to young readers. These tales are infused with moral themes and adorned with her own illustrations.
