Before #RVLiving and #VanLife exploded from the fringes to the mainstream, Rachel Thompson and Lisa Cross packed up their worldly possessions and let the lease on their apartment lapse. They purchased their first motorhome and set out to travel the country, both for the experience and in search of the next place they wanted to call home. Now, 15 years later, Rachel and Lisa still embrace RV living, and a life as "motorhome gypsies" as they say in the subculture. They have compiled their wisdom, their advice, their good times and even their mistakes into this 200-page volume that is part memoir, part travel writing and part how-to. Whether you are merely curious about the lifestyle or preparing a bug-out vehicle, this book provides practical guidance that you need to read before you commit. Don't waste your money or lose your sanity because of things you don't know about motorhome life.
Rachel Thompson, former freelance writer, wrote and cartooned for magazines and newspapers from the Lehigh Valley, Pa., before taking up the motorhome life. She now resides deep inside a national forest in Florida. She became a serious writer after first surviving a near-death motor vehicle accident in 2003 after more than 25 years in the construction industry. To date, she has self-published six novels and two collections of short stories available in print and e-book. Her quirky and satirical short stories have appeared in a variety of anthologies. The next novel is in process now. Nonfiction credits include press releases, ad-copy and other materials for nonprofit organizations. From sci-fi and fantasy, to social satire and historical fiction, Thompson twists it all.
