Autorenporträt
Dr. Lauren R. Shapiro is a Professor at King Graduate School of Urban Studies and Applied Research at Monroe College. She has a Ph.D. in Cognitive Developmental Psychology from Rutgers University and a M.S. in Experimental Psychology from Ohio University. In addition, she has an M.S. in Criminal Justice specializing in Law Enforcement from Indiana State University at Terra Haute.' Her undergraduate degrees in Psychology and in Early Childhood Education are from the the State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Shapiro has also taught at Clemson University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Florida Atlantic University at Davie, Emporia State University, North Dakota State University, Colorado State University Global Campus, and John Jay College of Criminal Justice.' Her research, publications, conference presentations, and workshops domestically and internationally focus on topics related to crime, particularly in reference to children (e.g., forensic interviewing techniques and investigations, child eyewitness testimony and identification, behavioral modification and effective discipline for children; juvenile theft)In addition to her teaching and academic work, her background includes a two-year postdoctoral research fellowship with the Carolina Consortium on Human Development, special training as a custody investigator in North Dakota, a Special Education Advocate in Kansas, and a Court Appointed Special Advocate in Florida. Dr. Shapiro has worked as a consultant for the Bronx District Attorney's Office (Child Abuse/Sex Crimes Unit), Emporia Police Department, Lyon County Sheriff's Office, and the Center of Change in Kansas, and she did her internship with the Fargo Police Department and externship with the Honorable Ralph Erickson at the U.S. District Court of North Dakota.
