Welcome to the playground inside my brain... Every brain is different - and that's something to celebrate! In this story, a child with ADHD takes readers on a colourful and imaginative tour of their mind. From soaring swings of excitement to drifting clouds of distraction, the joyful metaphor of a playground gives children a voice describing what it is like to live with a wonderfully unique brain. This book helps children to feel seen, understood and valued just as they are. Perfect for building empathy, encouraging awareness, and sparking conversations with everyone around them, this uplifting and honest picture book will empower neurodivergent young people and encourage them to feel proud of who they are.
Hi, I'm Emily! I'm a teacher and storyteller, and I love to use my imagination. I studied drama (yep, I love being a little dramatic!) and now I spend my days helping amazing kids learn and grow. I've always been curious about how different people think and learn, especially after my cousin was diagnosed as having special educational needs at an early age. I wrote this book because I believe every brain is special¿- and that includes yours! In 2024, I found out I had a brain tumour. It was a pretty big surprise, but with lots of support (and many snacks), I felt inspired by the strength and resilience of the children I teach. I wanted to write something special that would celebrate neurodiversity and speak directly to young readers navigating the world in their own unique ways. So this book is for all the amazing children with ADHD¿- and for anyone who's ever felt a little different. I'm going to let you into a little secret: being different is your superpower! When I'm not writing or teaching, you'll find me making up stories, going on road trips, and dancing around the kitchen.
