My Childhood, Learning to Keep The White Space: My autobiography is my childhood story growing up on a small quarter horse ranch. Because of a learning disorder, I still could not read at 10 years old. With the help of a librarian, I discovered a book of Rembrandt art. When I arrived home I found a book of art by C.M. Reading my Autobiography to 3rd and 4th-grade classes has been a great joy. The children laugh out loud and ask the best questions. I have shared a lifestyle that is no longer experienced and the children learn a lot from my book.

"I have the most wonderful life of anybody, EVER". My quality of life rose to a new level during my years of painting while riding to and from my office at University of Texas, Austin, on the express bus, and later, on the commuter train. Each day as I painted, people noticed. They smiled and often asked questions about the process or images. I discovered how important art is to the everyday life we live. The idea of "Keep The White Space" in your life books came to me during this time of talking about the memory or purpose each painting touched. I wanted to teach anyone that wanted to learn to paint in watercolor. In 2011, I set out to teach my style of art to others. I began to see students' art painted in my own whimsical style. I was encouraged. They often begin to experience joy like I know in their own paintings. Today I have a studio on the Downtown Square in Georgetown, Texas. I enjoy painting, teaching, and sharing my art in multiple ways every day. To learn more about "Keep The White Space" in your life please visit: www.kmcelwaine.com
