Have you ever dealt with a bossy older brother, taken care of a younger sister, or been everyone amp rsquo s favorite only brother? The truth is that while there are a number of factors that make each family unique, rivalry is a natural part of growing up with siblings. The relationships that form between siblings are perhaps some of the most important bonds that individuals experience during their lifetime. Interacting with siblings is one way that children learn social skills that they will use throughout their lives. Parents and caregivers can play an important role in helping siblings negotiate disputes and benefit from the many lessons they provide. In this book, Beth looks up to her big sister Jen and loves many of the same things that Jen does - including the color pink! But Jen is envious of the attention that Beth receives during her birthday party, so she decides to hide her sister's gifts. Eventually Jen realizes that Beth is no longer a baby, but a little girl who adores her big sister - and that sisterhood is the best gift of all. My Sister Beth amp rsquo s Pink Birthday offers children a gentle guide to dealing with sibling rivalry and sharing. A Note to Parents and Caregivers provides concrete strategies for smoothing out disputes and fostering positive sibling relationships.
