It's 1973 in small town Clarksburg, Iowa, and sixteen-year-old Cos McDhai has high hopes for the upcoming summer break, now, just a couple weeks away. Having grown tired of fishing, the seemingly endless hours working in the lawnmower shop, and hanging out with the guys on the corner, Cos wishes for something new. Without consideration for the old saying, "Be careful what you wish for, least it come true" Cos decides he'd like to venture into the realm of serious relationship and try his hand at dating. He finds himself waking the morning after his hard sought decision with a weird vibe that he just can't shake. Unusual incidents begin to occur, leaving him to wonder about his highly unstable mother's occasional comment: "These things always happen in threes!" Cos wasn't sure if she meant good things, bad things, or just... exciting things, but the uncertainty ends when number three arrives in the form of a small, green car pulling up to the corner with 'The most gorgeous girl he had ever seen!' sitting behind the wheel. With the arrival of Kathy, Cos tumbles headlong into a first love that is all he hoped it would be. Unfortunately, the tumbling doesn't cease, and a somewhat rattled Cos begins to wonder if it ever will.
R.C. Davis is a writer of fiction, an author, and a poet who came with his family to the Midwest of the USA during his childhood years. While he grew up in the rolling hills that form the western banks of the Mississippi River, his interests in people, places, and genres are cosmopolitan in scope. His love for writing and telling stories come second only to family, dogs, music, and nature.
