This book aims at providing comprehensive insights focusing on the ongoing research in application of nanotechnology in environmental systems with focus on wastewater treatment. It deals with the synthesis, characterization and employment of nanomaterials for ecological remediation. This book is of primary interest to academicians, researchers, scientists and engineers working in the field of application of nanomaterial in environmental management. This book aims to provide knowledge about recently developed applications of nanotechnology in wastewater treatment in a comprehensive and structured manner. Nanotechnology, being a research area of increasing significance, is still being explored to further depths. This book also focuses on collectively discussing the technologies developed so far and attempts to pave the way for possible future developments. This book addresses the challenges of pollutant removal during wastewater treatment and constructively discusses the innovative and effective solutions that nanotechnology has to offer for the same. Dr. Remya Neelancherry is an Associate Professor at School of Infrastructure, Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. She has an expertise in development of novel nano-catalysts and their application for bio-refractory pollutants removal, advanced oxidation processes for water and wastewater treatment and application of microwave for solid waste management. Dr. Remya has more than 15 years of teaching and research experience in various specialized areas of environmental engineering and science. She is a member of American Society of Civil Engineers, American Chemical Society, Indian Water Works Association, Institute of Engineers (India), a senior Member of Asia-Pacific Chemical, Biological & Environmental Engineering Society, etc
Dr. Mathava Kumar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. His research interest includes water and wastewater treatment using membrane reactors, new-materials for environmental applications, emerging pollutants removal by advanced oxidation processes, trace organics and nutrients removal for reuse and resource recovery from solid waste. Dr. Mathava Kumar has more than 20 years of teaching, research and consulting experience in the field of environmental engineering.
