Gary Good was born and raised in the Marion section of Jersey City, New Jersey. Growing up in a culturally diverse neighborhood with an Italian mother and an Irish-English father, Gary developed a deep appreciation for community, resilience, and hard work. The fifth of seven children, he distinguished himself early on as a talented athlete, excelling as a pitcher in both the West Side Little League and the Police Athletic League (PAL). He attended P.S. #23 and later graduated from Dickinson High School in Jersey City.Driven by a lifelong passion for fitness and discipline, Gary pursued interests in weight lifting and mixed martial arts before transitioning into a career in public service. In 1994, he joined the Hudson County Correction Department, graduating from the academy and serving with dedication as a Corrections Officer.A devoted husband and proud father of two, Gary's life took an unexpected turn when he suffered a life-altering injury that made doctors doubt he would ever walk again. His book chronicles this journey of perseverance and faith-an inspiring story of beating the odds, meeting God, and reclaiming oneself in the midst of destruction.
