Er hat einen Abschluss in Agronomie von der Universidade do Oeste de Santa Catarina und einen Master- und Doktorgrad in Agronomie (Pflanzenproduktion) von der Universidade de Passo Fundo. Derzeit ist er Professor und stellvertretender Koordinator des Masterstudiengangs Technologie und Innovationsmanagement an der Universidade Comunitária de Chapecó und Professor an der Universidade do Oeste de Santa Catarina.
