In 2014, Porto Velho became the Brazilian capital with the highest rate of overweight people and the fourth with the highest rate of obesity. The increase in the prevalence of obesity has been observed in Brazil in various areas and social segments, with a nutritional transition process being observed as obesity becomes more prevalent than malnutrition. Considered a multifactorial and epidemic disease, obesity needs to be understood and studied with the guidance of broad knowledge so that effective prevention and care can be promoted. Through a multiple case study with a descriptive approach, this research questioned and evaluated 25 obese subjects and 25 non-obese subjects to understand the behavioral and cognitive aspects of obesity in a comparative statistical analysis.
