Amelia "Mary" Smith, the fiercely independent daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Hanson, defies every expectation of a noble lady. Trained by her father to wield a bow instead of curtseys, she finds her peace not in ballrooms, but in the quiet freedom of the forest-where no one expects her to behave, smile, or marry well. When she sneaks off to camp in the woods near her academy at Hamptor, a chance encounter with a mysterious archer-who turns out to be William Flemington, the elusive Baron of Bath-sets off a spark neither of them can ignore. Mistaking Mary for a boy, William challenges her to an archery contest, only to be bested by the bold and cunning stranger. But before he can learn her true identity, Mary disappears, leaving only a stolen kiss and a lingering memory. Three years later, Mary reenters society as the debutante daughter of a duke, now facing the pressures of marriage and propriety. But her heart-and her past-refuse to be tamed. When fate throws her once again into William's path during a season of balls, house visits, and family expectations, sparks reignite. Yet secrets, mistaken identities, and societal constraints threaten to keep them apart. As Mary wrestles with her desire for freedom and William fights to uncover the truth behind the woman who once bested him, both must decide if love is worth breaking all the rules they were born into.
Autorenporträt
Nikki Larousse, who was reared in northeastern Malaysia, has always been enthralled with mythology from all around the world. She would always return to the escapism she found in writing things down, even if she had to focus on reality and pursue her higher education and work-life balance on the side. The majority of her creations are rooted in notorious Western myths, legends, and folklore. She does, however, also incorporate Malay folklore from her cultural background into her stories. So, if you dare to dream of cunning heroes and fierce heroines who battle together to achieve their happily ever-afters, enter her realms of Larouverse.
