Autorenporträt
Maxwell Fraval, LLB, DO, MOsteoSc(Paed) Maxwell Fraval came to osteopathy via a significant career change inspired by inner guidance. Later, when he was in practice, he developed a particular dedication to the treatment of babies and children after successfully treating his baby son, who had projectile vomiting. Witnessing the success of osteopathic care in young patients is, for Maxwell, an ongoing source of wonder at the strength of the response that can be achieved with osteopathy. He has been on a continuing journey of discovery into the benefits of osteopathic treatment throughout his long career. Maxwell trained at the British School of Osteopathy and subsequently joined its Board of Governors. He also served on the board of the General Council of Registered Osteopaths in the United Kingdom (UK) before moving to Australia in 1983. Maxwell has taught and mentored generations of osteopathic practitioners. He began teaching undergraduates in the UK in 1979, and in 1985, after relocating to Australia, he joined the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) as a part-time lecturer. RMIT was the first university in Australia to run an osteopathic degree course. Maxwell is a founding member of the Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation of Australia and New Zealand, which was established in 1990 as a vehicle for teaching postgraduate courses. In 1993, he pioneered the first osteopathic paediatrics program (leading to a master's degree) in Australia at RMIT. Since 2001, Maxwell has taught Rule of the Artery courses in Australia, New Zealand, the United States of America, UK and several European countries.
