Is polygamy moral? Should the Church marry and bless polygamists? Should Europe and America legalise polygamy? What really is the African's honest opinion of polygamy? David Maillu is a leading African literary writer, and here provocatively discusses these issues. He looks at the relevance of polygamy in the modern society, from historical, ethical, traditional, economic, biblical and psychological standpoints.

David G. Maillu is renowned in Kenya as a bold and prolific writer and artist who challenges societal norms amidst cultural evolution. As a self-published maverick, Maillu sold thousands of copies of his books at a time when African narratives were heavily censored. His work courageously explores themes such as sex, politics, injustice, and hypocrisy in postcolonial Kenya. Beyond writing, Maillu is a painter, sculptor, musician, and African spiritual leader. He spearheaded the compilation of KA, The Holy Book of Neter. His accolades include the Jomo Kenyatta Prize for Literature. Maillu writes in English, Swahili, and Kikamba, his mother tongue. In January 2025, Maillu revealed a monumental statue, Trump Shithole, featuring a functional toilet, at his rural home in Mathemboni, where he welcomes visitors. His latest work, After 4.30 is available in an exciting new edition in bookshops across Kenya in print, audio, ebook, and braille formats.
