This paper analyses the similarities between indoor and outdoor counselling, with a particular focus on action- and experience-oriented methods in both areas of counselling and on the use of nature as an intervention in counselling. The aim of the paper is, in particular, to highlight the importance of working in nature and the application of action- and experience-oriented working methods in achieving sustainable counselling results. The study is based on relevant specialist literature from the fields of indoor and outdoor counselling, as well as on the evaluation of questionnaires that were answered in writing by experts from both counselling areas (indoor and outdoor). The study concludes that action- and experience-oriented methods and the use of nature as an intervention in itself - taking into account the needs, resources and objectives of the respective client - can make a significant contribution to sustainable counselling results.
