Autorenporträt
After both retiring from their first careers, Dr. Lisa Cowley, a holistic chiropractor and nutritional counselor of 25 years, along with her husband, Victor Westgate, a high school educator of 34 years, moved from Long Island to upstate New York, and asked "what's now/what next?" and the answer sprung forth in a second career as small niche farmers raising log-grown shiitake mushrooms. During the off-season, they decided to purchase a Class B Roadtrek and crisscrossed the United States, where they discovered not only the beauty of their country but also the people they met along the way. During their travels, Lisa and Victor interviewed women and men from the ages of fifty to seventy-five old, in part, not only because that is the age group where they find themselves, but also the interviews helped them make sense of the second half of life. They sold the shiitake farm and due to the surprising discoveries they found by interviewing their peers, Lisa and Victor stepped into a third career as authors and workshop facilitators, assisting individuals in redefining their purpose. www.joyinaging.com
