Genie Byrd completed Paw Mischief, her fifth children's book, during a time of government mandated stay-in-place directives due to Covid-19. Intense focus, resolve, energy and small daily goals became parts of the creative process . . . also, a mental, physical and emotional outlet.Riley and Cole, the canine characters of her new book were real family pets: mischievous, fun-loving, and prone to lots of trouble. Genie loved those adorable grand-dogs and now finds delight in knowing children will have the joy of getting to know these completely opposite pet personalities who were best friends and siblings.Paw Mischief was written for children to teach the importance of always obeying parents, making good choices, and the possible painful consequences of wrong decisions. Hopefully, it will inspire pet rescues and adoptions, as well.Genie's love of writing children's books was birthed after 34 wonderful years as an educator. She retired as an elementary school principal in Cobb County, Georgia.Genie and her husband, James, live a full life and together spoil a full covey of grand and great-grandchildren.
