From authentic, traditional log cabins and expansive ranches to modern slopeside homes, William Peace is known for his rustic luxury style that celebrates life in the American West. “Stunning photography and thoughtful commentary highlight this tribute to interior designer William Peace, whose ‘rustic luxury’ style reflects the history and landscapes of the West.”—Foreword Reviews The interior design career of William Peace has spanned more than thirty years. His work has crossed stylistic periods, places, and mediums. He is equally at ease designing a multigenerational ranch on thousands of acres; a small, environmentally sensitive cabin deep in the woods; or a modern steel, stone, and glass house overlooking a lake. Peace has created projects so authentic to the American western vernacular as to be indiscernible in place or time. However, he has concurrently created stunning modern projects that offer extraordinary fluidity between the indoors and outdoors due to the melding of indigenous materials to feature the celebrated views. Irrespective of period or aesthetic, he takes his direction from the location, the landscape, and the light. From traditional to modern, rustic to refined, mountains to lakes, and peaks to valleys, Peace’s work has been specific to each client and place (in this book, southwestern Montana, northern Idaho, and the Texas Hill country), with a singular and specific design for each homeowner. Peace understands that light and landscape dictate how one lives in the West, and they are critical considerations in designing a home. The cycle of the day in the American West is always dictated by the natural world.
