The Football Association of Penang enters a team in Malaysian football competitions to represent the state of Penang. The team currently plays in the second-level division in Malaysian football, the Malaysian Premier League. Their home stadiums are the Penang City Stadium at George Town and the Negeri Pulau Pinang Stadium at Batu Kawan. The league is currently named Astro Premier League Malaysia (Astro Liga Perdana Malaysia in Malay). The League was previously called the TM Premier League Malaysia because of the sponsorship of Telekom Malaysia, But it was changed after Astro became the league sponsors replacing Telekom Malaysia
