Chanda Rubin is an American former top-ten professional tennis player. During her career, she reached the semifinals at the 1996 Australian Open, the quarterfinals of the French Open three times, and had wins over Serena Williams and Martina Hingis. Rubin also captured the 1966 Australian Open Doubles title with Aranxta Sánchez Vicario and was the 1999 US Open Doubles Finalist with Sandrine Testud. Ranked as high as sixth in the world, she won seven career titles on the WTA and reached the Australian Open semifinal in 1996. She appeared in the four major tournaments for nearly two decades, with the 2006 US Open being her final major. Chanda Rubin was inducted into the Southern Tennis Hall of Fame in January 2009 and on June 29, 2013, inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. Chanda also graduated cum laude from Harvard University, earning a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Extension Studies with a concentration in Economics. To date, Chanda is still heavily involved in the world of tennis as a commentator for The Tennis Channel.
