Join Pennygirl, the brave rescue dog, on her heartwarming journey from a farm in Texas, USA, to the city's dog shelter, after her beloved owner can no longer care for her and the farm. Pennygirl's life is turned upside down as she struggles to overcome feelings of fear, uncertainty and loneliness at the shelter. Missing her siblings, farmyard pets and humans, Pennygirl wonders if she'll have to stay at the shelter for good. With love and compassion and the help of Niagara Dog Rescue, are second chances possible? Will Pennygirl find a new Forever Home? Pennygirl's "story can lead to thoughtful conversations about what it feels like to be left out, what it feels to be safe, and ultimately how kindness can change someone's world." The story teaches social-emotional concepts, in particular, identifying and managing emotions, building empathy, and recognizing the importance of positive relationships. Children are introduced to animal advocacy with topics of dog adoption and dog rescue and the opportunity to discuss community helpers, such as animal shelter workers, foster families and veterinarians. "Pennygirl's Rescue" is a multi-award-winning children's picture book, perfect for children aged 3-9 years. This is Book 1 of "The Pennygirl Series".
