Currently, the residential skyline of Lahore exhibits that Vertical/Apartment housing is not as popular as detached housing. This study highlights Vertical/Apartment housing as a possible strategy to tackle increasing shortage of housing for the middle-income groups in Lahore. Furthermore, it explores the perceptions of people of Lahore about this type of housing in order to have a qualitative design basis for Vertical/Apartment housing and thus raising its acceptability. It is an initiative to accentuate physical, social & economic spheres of Vertical/ Apartment housing that still needs investigation and more in-depth analysis.

Frau Shazia Hanif arbeitet als Assistenzprofessorin in der Abteilung für Architektur und Design am COMSATS-Institut für Informationstechnologie in Lahore, Pakistan. Sie hat ihren Bachelor- und Master-Abschluss in Architektur an der UET Lahore gemacht. Zu ihren Forschungsinteressen gehören das Thema Wohnen und Wohnprobleme in Pakistan. Ihre Forschungsarbeiten wurden auch in internationalen Fachzeitschriften ausgewählt und veröffentlicht.
