This work deals with the client-project-professional relationships that are established between sustainability issues and interior design actions. It was based on the hypothesis that material can be discarded due to projects that don't really fulfil the client's interests. It is believed that both the professional and the client have pre-defined (latent) mental projects and it is at the moment of exposing them to each other that decisions can tend towards success or not, towards durability or discarding. In order to study the subject, a questionnaire was used to survey the perceptions of professionals in the field about client-project-professional relationships. The aim of the study was to ascertain their understanding of the importance of the duration of interior design projects in decisions about disposal, reuse and sustainability. It was concluded that client-project-professional relationships are relevant to decision-making regarding the sustainability of environments. A project that satisfies the client tends to be more durable to the extent that it fulfils the prerogatives of functionality, aesthetics and types of materials.
