The semi-deciduous or semi-deciduous forests are the most extended forest formation in Cuba in flat and hilly areas; occupied by the best soils and possessed valuable woods, reason why it was practically razed and there are very few places left with this type of forest. In Hornos de Cal, Sancti Spíritus, there is a very interesting wooded area on bare karst or lenar, which had not been studied from the point of view of its vegetation until now.The physiognomic studies of the natural vegetation are very important because they allow to characterize the evaluated vegetal formations. This research allowed us to determine that this forest is different from the other semi-deciduous forests, because its leaves are notophilous, they have more succulent, coriaceous and lignified leaves than the typical semi-deciduous forests. It also has a higher percentage of spinescence and more presence of morphoecological adaptations due to the high water stress exerted by the bare karst on the vegetation that covers it.
