Numerous observations of scientists about the system of proper names in Bunin's stories show the need for a targeted and generalizing study of the system of names in the writer's work not only from a linguistic point of view, but also with an aim to access the deep layers of the author's poetics, modeling his historiosophical, religious, literary-aesthetic and socio-political views. As a result of the work, conclusions were drawn that a proper name in Bunin's prose is capable, firstly, of attracting and combining intra-textual formal and substantive elements of a literary text in a certain way, thus creating new content, and secondly, it opens an exit to the broadest cultural field, saturating the author's text with intertexts, thus generating new meanings.
