Ibitayo Popoola estudou na Universidade de Lagos, Akoka, onde obteve, entre outros, o seu primeiro diploma em Ciência Política, com uma segunda classe, um diploma de pós-graduação (PGD) em Comunicação de Massas, um mestrado (Comunicação de Massas), um mestrado (Pol.Sc) e um doutoramento em Ciência Política, com especialização em Comunicação Política. Tem publicações nos EUA, Reino Unido, Dubai, entre outros.
