From the founding of the city, through suburban mock-revival, to the pastoral idyll of the countryside beyond, Poundlandia is a pilgrimage to the dark heart of modern-day Britain, taking the reader through a landscape of mythology & geography; nostalgia & modernity; poetry, nature & the arts; from the Neolithic to the post-Brexit Age, via the cultural wastes of late stage capitalism, where Romance meets harsh reality, & love & lore grim death, returning in the end to the old earth, to the land.
