Autorenporträt
Mutegi Mbae is a consulting electrical engineer with over 15 years of experience mainly in the power distribution and retail segments at Kenya Power and several other power utilities in Africa and Europe. Besides that, he is passionate about research, innovations, universal access to energy, zero emissions, power system optimization technologies, and global best practices in the energy sector. He has authored a number of peer-reviewed, high-quality journal papers and presented a number of conference papers. Mutegi has also authored several book chapters in the area of power systems. He holds a doctorate degree in electrical and electronics engineering (power systems) from the University of Johannesburg in South Africa and BSc and MSc degrees in the same area of study. He is an adjunct in the area of power systems at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Kenya. Nnamdi Nwulu is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Science at the University of Johannesburg. He is a versatile professional with a strong background in research, education, and engineering. Holding both a BSc and an MSc in electrical and electronics engineering, and a PhD in electrical engineering, he possesses a comprehensive academic foundation. His expertise lies in the application of digital technologies, mathematical optimization techniques, and machine learning algorithms within the domains of food, energy, and water systems. With a keen interest in advancing these sectors, he has actively pursued research opportunities to drive innovation and enhance efficiency. As a passionate educationist, he is committed to sharing knowledge and fostering learning experiences. He brings a multidisciplinary approach, combining technical proficiency with a dedication to impactful solutions. He has authored several books, inventions, and over 200 publications, winning him the 2021 NRF Research Excellence Award for Early Career/Emerging Researchers in engineering/technology. He was also a 2020/2021 TW Kambule-NSTF-South32 Award finalist in the emerging researcher category and won the 2020 UJ Vice-Chancellors' most promising young researcher award. He is a member of the prestigious South African Young Academy of Science (SAYAS). He is a professional engineer registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (SMIEEE), a senior member of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SMSAIEE), and a Y-rated researcher by the National Research Foundation of South Africa. Prof. Nwulu is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Digital Food, Energy & Water Systems (JD-FEWS), associate editor of the IET Renewable Power Generation (IETRPG) and the African Journal of Science, Technology, Innovation and Development (AJSTID).
