JEFF TODD TITON is professor of music emeritus at Brown University. He is the author of Early Downhome Blues: A Musical and Cultural Analysis and Old-Time Kentucky Fiddle Tunes. He is also the editor of Give Me This Mountain: Life History and Selected Sermons of the Rev. C. L. Franklin and Downhome Blues Lyrics: An Anthology from the Post-World War II Era.
