The text also discusses the fundamentals of pneumatic and hydraulic fluid power systems, as well as heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC&R) systems and desalination systems. CDR Matthew A. Carr, USN is a 1981 Naval Systems Engineering graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and served on the USS Tecumseh (SSBN-628), USS Sunfish (SSN-649), and USS Simon Lake (AS-33). A registered professional engineer with a PhD in mechanical engineering, Carr serves on the faculty of the Naval Academy. He lives in Edgewater, MD.
