Jeffrey S. Jones, DNP, RN, PMHCNS-BC, LNC, is an ANCC board certified psychiatric clinical nurse specialist, psychotherapist, an ABA approved legal nurse consultant, and entrepreneur. He received an ADN from North Central Technical College in 1989, a BSN with a minor in psychology from The Ohio State University in 1993, a MSN in psychiatric nursing from The University of Akron in 1997, and a DNP from Case Western Reserve University in 2007. He also received a Legal Nurse Consulting Certificate from Capital University Law School in 2007. He most recently was visiting faculty at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.' He is well published in the area of psychiatric mental health nursing and nursing theory. He is a lead editor / author of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing; An Interpersonal Approach, 1st and 2nd second editions (Springer, 2011, 2017). He is also a contributing author to Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nursing: Integrating Psychotherapy, Psychopharmacology, and Complementary and Alternative Approaches'and Foundations of Clinical Nurse Specialist Practice. He is recipient of multiple awards, including the Mildred E. Newton Distinguished Educator Award from The Ohio State University (2021), AJN’s 2020 1st Place Book of The Year Award for Fast Facts for the Nurse Psychotherapist: the process of becoming, (2021), the Distinguished Alumni Award from The University of Akron, (2007), and the Contribution to Nursing Award from Case Western Reserve University, (2005). He is the past Chief Nursing Officer for The Ohio Hospital for Psychiatry. He has served on the Richland County Mental Health Board, The Ohio Board of Nursing - Standards and Practice Committee, and as a content expert on psychiatric nursing for the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).' He is past president and owner of Pinnacle Mental Health Associates, Inc., a private practice in Mansfield, Ohio, and the current owner of Jeffrey S. Jones, LLC, a psychiatric APRN contracting company. Dr. Jones has provided service to the mentally ill in hospital settings, outpatient clinics, prisons, and in private practice.
