The second edition has been updated to reflect events that have taken place since the previous edition was published and which have shaped social and political views on race and ethnicity. Jacqueline Brooks is an associate professor of sociology at the California State University, Sacramento. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from The Ohio State University. Heidy Sarabia is an associate professor of sociology at California State University, Sacramento. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. Amanda M. Shigihara is an associate professor of sociology at California State University, Sacramento. She holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Colorado Boulder and M.A. in sociology from San Jose State University.
