The body, immersed in the multiple potentialities of life, dialogues with macro-structures, while at the same time (re)constructing itself in dialogical interaction with the world. The material conditions of life are present in processes of bodily transformation. Thinking about sexual and reproductive issues, gender and race/ethnicity, both in everyday life and in the sphere of public policy, is of paramount importance for the development of society. Currently, thinking about social phenomena surrounding sexual and reproductive health is on the agenda. Numerous black authors, intellectuals, feminists, and researchers have built up a broad repertoire of research, mainly in the field of public health, which has made this research possible. Gender and race/ethnicity relations, linked to reproductive issues, raise the academic scientific debate to levels where it is necessary to think about interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity. Researchers such as Edna Roland, Suely Carneiro, Lelia Gonzales, Elza Berquó, Augusta Thereza de Alvarenga, and Izabel Baltar have paved important paths that have enabled this research, now presented in book form.
