Raíces: Una aproximación comunicativa intercultural a la lengua española, Volumen dos is a communicative-based, learner-centric book designed to give Spanish 102 students opportunities to develop and practice Spanish in everyday situations. Each chapter of the book features distinct sections-a) ¡A empezar!, b) ¡A conversar!, c) ¡A escuchar!, d) ¡A escribir!, and e) ¡A leer!- to help develop the students' five language skills: writing, reading, speaking, listening, and cultural awareness. At the end of each lesson, is included Perspectiva cultural and ¡A pronunciar! or Ortografía. The text offers a variety of interactive and communicative exercises such as tongue-twisters, crosswords, riddles, real world tasks, role play, reading excerpts, short film discussion questions, and other listening exercises. Students learn how to use reflexive verbs, comparatives, and superlatives; talk about clothing and shopping; use present progressive; talk about local and Hispanic dishes; use indefinite and negative words; and much more. With emphases on practical application, conversational Spanish, and cultural understanding, this text is the second volume in a three-book series developed to help foster students' language acquisition and speaking ability.
