Rachel Ray is a novel written by Anthony Trollope, first published in 1863. The story takes place in the fictional town of Baslehurst, England, and follows the life of Rachel Ray, a young woman who lives with her widowed mother and her younger sister. Rachel is a beautiful and intelligent woman who works as a seamstress, and she is courted by two men: Luke Rowan, a wealthy and ambitious young man who has come to Baslehurst to start a new business, and Mr. Tappitt, a local brewer who is also interested in Rachel. As the story progresses, Rachel finds herself torn between the two men, and she must make a difficult decision about which one to marry. Meanwhile, Luke Rowan's business venture is met with opposition from Mr. Tappitt and other members of the community, leading to a heated rivalry between the two men.The novel explores themes of love, ambition, and class, as well as the challenges faced by women in Victorian England. With its vivid characters and engaging plot, Rachel Ray is a classic work of English literature that continues to captivate readers today.Oh, Dolly, do not speak with that terrible voice, as though the world were coming to an end,'' she said, in answer to the first note of objurgation that was uttered; but the notes that came afterwards were so much more terrible, so much more severe, that Rachel found herself quite unable to stop them by any would-be joking tone. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.

Autorenporträt
Renowned for his Chronicles of Barsetshire series and the Palliser novels, Anthony Trollope was a prolific and renowned English novelist. Trollope was born into a middle-class household, but his early years were characterized by chaotic family dynamics and financial hardships. In spite of these obstacles, he succeeded in his career as a civil servant in the British Post Office, where he spent more than thirty years. Published in 1847, Trollope's debut book, "The Macdermots of Ballycloran," marked the beginning of his writing career. He proceeded to produce travelogues, non-fiction books, short stories, and 47 novels during his lifetime. The richly detailed portrayal of Victorian life, the astute observation of human nature, and the examination of contemporary moral and social issues define Trollope's writing. His books frequently include nuanced individuals battling social and personal issues against the backdrop of small-town England or the corridors of political power. Trollope is regarded as one of the greatest Victorian novels because of his realistic depiction of ordinary life, complex narratives, and witty writing.
