Rammed Earth Construction and the Use of Additives reviews and consolidates up-to-date, sought-after knowledge relating earth buildings as a viable solution to meet the requirements of modern-day, green construction. Opening with a combination of foundational aspects and a discussion on state-of-the-art technologies that enhance the rammed earth technique, the book goes on to investigate the admixtures that can be used to improve the raw materials’ durability, strength, and thermal performance. The coverage thoroughly delves into different types of additives, clarifying the origin of naturally sourced ones and the manufacturing processes of man-made ones, and their specific effects with a focus on methods for stabilization, reinforcement, and preservation of structures. Analyses of real-world case studies are also included, bringing practical value-add to an already scientifically robust research resource. The volume proves to be an essential guide for a variety of audiences in academic and industry contexts who are committed to finding new ways of thinking and working to fulfil pressing sustainability goals worldwide.
