We present a proposal for a technique for high-quality monochromatic representation of grayscale images using the halftoning technique with random masks. We present a proposal for a technique for high-quality monochromatic representation of grayscale images using the halftoning technique with random masks. Our algorithm randomly calculates masks, with 4x4 and 6x6 levels, to be used by the halftoning algorithm to generate high-quality printing of grayscale images on monochrome laser printers, since this type of printer produces better graphic quality results when compared to inkjet printers. The halftoning algorithm was developed using linear correction and gamma correction. In addition, halftoning was implemented in two different resolutions: 300x300 pixels and 600x600 pixels. A comparison is made between the results obtained using the halftoning algorithm with a static mask or random mask, as well as a comparison between the results obtained using linear correction or gamma correction.
