This volume, enhanced with photographs and other memorabilia, traces the history of the unique organization from its founding to the present day. The story reflects the changing history of an urban area and the drive of an organization to provide entertainment and education to generations of Akronites.

Thomas Bacher is the Director of The University of Akron Press. Cynthia Harrison is the STEM librarian at Youngstown State University. Harrison received BA and MA degrees in Germanic Languages and Literatures, as well as an MLS from Kent State University. Sharon Cebula is in the NEOMFA program at The University of Akron, working on a nonfiction collection of profiles to illuminate the immigrant experience in Akron, Ohio. Cebula's nonfiction work has appeared in Akron Life magazine and Rubbertop Review.
