This book presents a mapping of reading practices and the profile of readers in Serrolândia, based on research conducted in public and private schools in the city of Serrolândia, Bahia; the Gervácio Maciel da Cruz Municipal Public Library; and the Reading Agent Project. The relevance of this research lies not only in addressing a topic that has become a hot topic in academic circles and is being discussed in public forums, but mainly in presenting data that will serve to rethink reading practices in Serrolândia. This data can be accessed by teachers, public and private school principals, librarians, and other reading agents, as well as by civil society and public authorities, so that effective actions to promote reading in the community can be discussed and proposed.
