This book was written with the aim of investigating the stylistic manifestations present in five songs by Cazuza and Renato Russo: Brasil, Ideologia, Exagerado, Que País é Este and Metal Contra as Nuvens. The background to this investigation is the historical and cultural context of Brazil at the time. It is believed that scrutinising and revealing implicit meanings in poems set to music - which empathise or identify with the reader - brings greater interest and pleasure. The pair of singers and composers were chosen because of the commonalities found in their works. It is also proposed to relate this study to a workshop to be applied to secondary school students, with the aim of stimulating a critical sense in relation to poetic subtexts and a greater intimacy with the stylistic content of the Portuguese language.
