With no real proof, FBI Special Agent, Adam Grant, suspects a serial killer is targeting animal abusers. His hunch leads him to Gardenia Hill, a premier animal sanctuary in South Carolina, founded by Katherine"Red" Sutter, a fierce advocate for animals and animal rights. "If an animal needs help, they don't care what you're wearing," Red was known to say, and would rescue a dog in jeans or a ball gown. Red has passed away, but Gardenia Hill continues to thrive, now run by her spirited niece, Greer. While Greer knew her aunt was a prominent figure in animal rescue, even testifying before Congress, she did not know Red had been a consultant for the FBI. Greer agrees to help by going through old files, but does not know Adam is looking for a serial killer. As the case unfolds, it leads to much more than expected. Adam becomes a regular visitor to Gardenia Hill, drawn not only by a shy Husky named Polly, but by Greer, and the array of characters, you will get to know and love. Will there be a romance? Is there really a serial killer out there? Dive into the world of animal rescue. See the harsh realities expertly woven with insight into the every day heroes who fight the abuse with love, compassion and respect. An absorbing and enlightening read for all.
