The poetry collection of Charles C. Meyers, Jr. in "Reflection on the Bridge" encompasses over a decade of poems he has written since 2014 with one focus: Hope. Each poem is sequenced to tell the story of Charles' experiences in life from his mental perspective, as his thought process transitions from childhood to adulthood. In order to understand his commitment to hope, it is important to understand his journey from the beginning. Each chapter provides insight into his dedication to growing his mind, strengthening his hope, shaping his knowledge, and sharing any wisdom gained. As he begins eyeing his next chapter, he knows hope will be with him. However, is having hope enough for each person to overcome any obstacle in life? How does someone truly become hopeful in life? Although Charles was able to realize the importance of hope for himself, he recognizes that someone may need more strength to make it through each day. His desire is to be a bridge for others, understanding the importance of making someone's path a little easier down the line. When you can genuinely encourage and provide guidance to those around you, the door of opportunity opens to catalyze each person to be who God called them to be. Charles knows the value of having hope. His hope now is to allow the transparency of his own life to be a beacon of hope for your life.
Charles Clinton Meyers, Jr. was born in Huntington, WV in 1991. He is a 2013 graduate of Marshall University and a project manager at Geiger Brothers, Inc. Throughout his life, Charles has focused on his growth and development. He strives each day to be at his best at all levels in his life, while also striving to help individuals realize their own potential. He focuses each day on inspiring others to have hope in their lives. He has been truly blessed to win numerous community service-related awards and individual honors for his work with the youth. However, his main goal is to make a positive impact on just one individual with any endeavor he pursues.Charles first began writing poetry while at Marshall University as a way to organize his thoughts and think through any experiences for him to grow and mature. Upon graduation, he began writing poetry more seriously as he was able to gain inspiration and hope from his own writing. He asked God to allow him to write the right words for himself to reflect over his life. As an avid reader, he has always enjoyed reading books that challenged him to think critically, and reading poetry allowed him to understand the deep connection a writer can have with his or her words for each reader. Charles utilizes each verse in his poems to shape a story for each person's mind to think through to gain hope. Just as with his actions in life, Charles' desire is to allow his writing to inspire each reader to grow into their potential. Every experience in life is not just for our own growth. We have to be willing to share any knowledge and wisdom gained to help others. He has learned many lessons throughout his life, so he aims to understand how each lesson can be used to benefit those around him. Charles continues to write poetry as he reflects over each step he takes, but he does not just write for his own growth; he writes to provide hope for each reader as well.
