Mag. Adelheid Schaudy, MSc. deals with stress and its main causes in the theoretical part of her master's thesis. She describes how legislators and companies deal with the issue of burnout. Furthermore, relevant developments in the working environment and employee management are examined. In the empirical part of the thesis, those directly and indirectly affected are asked about their experiences and perceptions of how companies deal with the issue of burnout, particularly with regard to prevention and measures for reintegrating those affected by burnout. The concluding summary shows that there are still some discrepancies between the theory and the practical handling of burnout in companies. Various statistics from Austria and Germany confirm the relevance of burnout in our society. Mental illnesses have higher growth rates than all other illnesses and cost social security institutions and companies a lot of money.
