This book, Research competencies in the scientific productivity of university teachers: New challenges and transformation driven by artificial intelligence, addresses the central role played by research competencies in the consolidation of a university committed to the generation of relevant, ethical and contextualized knowledge. In a scenario of profound technological and educational changes, scientific productivity is no longer a simple measurement of academic products, but a manifestation of educational commitment, social responsibility and critical thinking. The work is structured around a theoretical and chronological overview of the development of the concept of research competencies, especially from the Latin American perspective. It analyzes the differences between scientific production and productivity, the factors that influence the generation of knowledge and the challenges faced by university teachers in their role as researchers. The regulatory and training frameworks that support the development of these competencies, both from public and private institutions, are also explored.
