Kidney disease can now be recognized as a global health problem, and some factors predispose to the onset of this pathology. There is therefore a need for measures that contribute to the early detection of kidney disease. The aim of this study was to assess the risk factors for developing kidney disease in elementary school students from the public school system in the municipality of Canindé. It is a field, descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional study. Elementary school students in the municipality of Canindé, aged between 10 and 17, took part in the study. The study was carried out in a school in the town, as well as in schools in the rural area, to assess which group had the highest prevalence of kidney disease. The sample consisted of 80 students, 40 from rural areas and 40 from urban areas, of both sexes. In order to assess the risk of developing kidney disease, the students' blood pressure levels and glycemic changes were analyzed, as well as hereditary factors and family habits that could directly influence the group studied.
