Robert Burns reported from across the United States and around the world for the Associated Press for 45 years, specializing in national security issues for more than three decades in Brussels, Belgium, and Washington, D.C. He is a native of Stanwood, Washington, and a graduate of the University of Washington. He and his wife Liz have two grown children and three grandchildren.
