Roger Bocquet (born 9 April 1921 in Geneva) was a Swiss footballer of the 1940s and 1950s. He played as a half-back and was a participant at the 1950 FIFA World Cup and 1954 FIFA World Cup. He insisted on playing during the 1954 World Cup (and played all four matches) although he had a disease: he was suffering from a brain tumour. He got operated for this afterwards. He won 48 caps for Switzerland in total and scored 2 goals. He played his club football for the Lausanne Sports Club. The 1954 FIFA World Cup, the fifth staging of the FIFA World Cup, was held in Switzerland from 16 June to 4 July. Switzerland was chosen as hosts in July 1946. The tournament set a number of all-time records for goal-scoring, including the highest average goals scored per game. The tournament was won by West Germany, who defeated Hungary 3 2 in the final, giving them their first title.
